About White Ocean Racing

White Ocean Racing is the company set up by world renown solo sailor Steve White as a vehicle for Steve's world class sailing adventures. In 2008 / 2009, Steve circumnavigated the globe; 27000 miles non- stop and alone with no outside assistance in the Vendée Globe yacht race, which is widely regarded as the pinnacle of sailing. Going forward, Steve and the team are working towards the world record that people who know him regard as being made for him – to take on sailing's toughest challenge - sailing 'Westabout' non-stop and alone the wrong way around the World.

Competition to Win a Sailing Experience With Steve White is Extended

We have decided to extend the competition to win a weekend on the boat and other prizes. See the competition page. One of the objects of this exercise is to raise some money for the RNLI, and I think we can do a lot better on that front than we have done so far, so [...]

Onwards and Upwards

Onwards and upwards, that's been the theme over the last little while. We've got the boat absolutely fully operational now, we can jump on it and reliably go anywhere (providing we have a crew!), and the only things left on the jobs list are the nicer tasks, like whipping the ends of mooring lines and [...]

Significant Milestones for the Westabout Campaign

It's been a very busy few weeks for us, but with another couple of significant milestones passed in the Westabout campaign; we've managed to get the boat coded by the MCA so we can do charter work and finally put something back in the pot as opposed to taking it out, and we've already done [...]

Steve White Launches His “Westabout” Campaign

Finally I have something I am keen to shout about! We have managed to buy a Volvo 70 for the Westabout, which is a real result. It has been a very long hard road to get to this point, but like most good things in life, you have to fight for them, and if [...]

What an interesting time we are having. Our trusty and well loved Open 60 'Toe in the water’ has finally been sold. It is quite a mixed time for us - rather sad at the thought of our trusty boat going to pastures new, especially after she looked after Steve so well during the 2008/09 [...]

Next winter Steve White will take on the toughest challenge in sailing when he attempts to break the Solo Non-Stop Round the World record sailing Westabout “the wrong way round”, against the prevailing winds and currents. Steve White takes on the ‘Impossible Voyage’, sailing a Volvo Open 70, considered to be a “handful” for its [...]

Deep in darkest Dorset Kim and I are hard at work. With winter's icy grip loosening it's hold and Christmas well and truly behind us, the sponsorship drive continues in earnest as companies begin to communicate again after the recent distractions, and also because things are improving for businesses on a financial level. The feedback [...]
